Coloring for a Cause
It is heartwarming to give back to the community. Through the kindness of others and support received from members of 50 Shades of Coloring, it has afforded me the opportunity to pay it forward.
Wings of Rescue is run by pilots, so we know how to organize and coordinate each mission. We understand the factors and details that go into planning a safe, successful flight and use our network of ground volunteers to make loading and delivery as easy as possible for the pilot. Wings of Rescue has already saved over 20,000 dogs and cats and is going to rescue 7,000 more by the end of 2016. Wings Of Rescue is a 501c3 charity so your round trip operating costs and donations are tax deductible (but please ask your tax adviser).
To commemorate National Coloring Day, 50% of the proceeds with the addition of in--kind donations—a total of $200—was sent to Wings of Rescue. Members of the coloring crew each help create the dog print which was included with the donation.
A Million Thanks provides support and appreciation to our active and veteran military men and women through sending letters and granting betterment of life wishes, as well as providing higher education scholarships to their children .
In honor of Veteran's Day members of 50 Shades of Coloring created beautiful card to send to our veteran’s. They were mailed to this organization who sends them to Vets in hospitals and care facilities.
Holiday cards were created and delivered to Orange Hills nursing home to bring cheer to those who may not have family to celebrate with.
The Armed Services YMCA enhances the lives of military members and their families in spirit, mind and body through programs relevant to the unique challenges of military life.
This was the 8th year my husband and I sponsor a military family for Christmas—helping to bring cheer to their home by fulfilling their wish list. This year, with the help of donations from members of 50 Shades of Coloring, we were able to sponsor three families.
I initiated this program offering coloring to infusion patients. I volunteer at Kaiser Permanent’s Infusion Centers in Anaheim and Irvine. Coloring offers tranquility, diversion and creativity to patients who are suffering from life-threatening and acute chronic illnesses and undergo infusions for their diseases. Comments include: “This is the best” - Jason; “It is so wonderful that you offer this” - Lisa, “I loved coloring as a kid..” “We saw the power of distraction with this activity. Even during a reason, one of our patients went straight to coloring.” - Olivia Robles, Department Administrator, Ambulatory Hematology Oncology/Chemotherapy Infusion Center. Below are photos of the creativity by patients at the 3 most recent volunteer days.
